Biography
I’m Michelle Kusi, a Ghanaian-American mixed-media artist based in Tucson, Arizona. Born in 2001 in Atlanta, Georgia, I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography, Video, and Imaging, with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, from the University of Arizona in 2024.
My work blends archival digital photography, embroidery, and textured materials to explore themes of identity, culture, and emotion. Growing up between two cultures—Ghanaian and American—has influenced how I express myself. I’m drawn to the complexities of belonging, the beauty of everyday moments, and the emotional landscapes that often go unnoticed.
Faith is central to my creative process. Each piece is intentionally crafted to serve as a space for personal reflection, vulnerability, and transformation. Through my work, I aim to create visual experiences where others can connect, reflect, and discover truth.
